According to INSEE, the national statistics institute, prices of dwellings in France fell by 1.0% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the previous quarter (seasonally adjusted). The overall index stands at 126.1 (base 100 in 2015).
Second-hand dwellings, which make up 91.9% of the market, were down 1.0% over the quarter and 0.8% year on year. New dwellings, 8.1% of the market, fell by 0.1% over the quarter and were unchanged year on year. Across all dwellings the annual change was -0.8%.
The release does not break the figures down by apartments and houses or by region, so it says nothing about individual cities such as Paris or the Riviera. A buyer should compare local notary and listing data before drawing conclusions for a specific purchase.
