Mauritius PDS Residence
Mauritius
Overview
Buying residential property from $375,000 in an approved Property Development Scheme (PDS) project grants a residence permit for the buyer, spouse and dependent children, valid for as long as the property is owned.
Eligibility
The threshold applies to a purchase inside an approved PDS project — a residential purchase outside such a scheme does not qualify, and buying outside approved schemes is generally unavailable to foreigners at all. The $375,000 figure may be paid in any freely convertible currency.
Benefits
No minimum stay is required to keep the status. It grants the right to live and work in Mauritius without a separate work permit, and covers the buyer's spouse and dependent children.
Process
After the sale is registered, the notary issues a certificate. Submitted together with a passport and a medical declaration to the Economic Development Board (EDB), a decision is typically issued within ten working days.
This is not legal advice. PDS scheme terms and EDB procedure can change — confirm current requirements with a licensed adviser in Mauritius before you buy.
