Overseas property for Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia residents

October 13, 2026

Gdańsk Airport routes, apostille and sworn translators, tax office and consulates for Tricity residents buying property abroad.

Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia form one urban area with one airport, one regional court and a long list of honorary consulates, so a guide for one is useful for all three. The practical questions are the same as in the rest of Poland: which flights go where, where to get a document certified, and which office handles your tax, with the difference that your tax office depends on which of the three towns you live in. We work online and have no office, team or events in the Tricity. The text is informational and based on public sources checked in October 2026.

Gdańsk Airport and the routes

Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport (GDN) serves all three towns. The press reported that for winter 2026/27 Ryanair will operate 37 routes from Gdańsk with six based aircraft, including eleven new ones: Agadir, Budapest, Catania, Liverpool, Madrid, Milan-Malpensa, Porto, Bucharest, Palermo, Tirana and Turin. Wizz Air was reported to fly to Madrid, Catania and Budapest as well. For buyers this means Spain (Madrid), Italy (Sicily, Milan, Turin), Portugal (Porto) and Albania (Tirana). These come from trade press and an aggregator, not from the airport's own pages, which we could not open for the 2026/27 season, so confirm each route and its start date with the airport and airlines. We do not quote prices, and we do not list destinations we could not confirm.

Apostille, power of attorney and sworn translation in the Tricity

The apostille on Polish documents is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw, ul. Krucza 38/42. According to its page, you can apply in person after booking through e-Konsulat, or by post (up to 30 days); the fee shown is PLN 60 per document, to be checked at the time of application. Some documents, such as diplomas and school certificates, go to other bodies. The Ministry does not work with private intermediaries.

For a power of attorney or other document drawn up by a notary in Gdańsk, Sopot or Gdynia, the notary's signature first has to be certified by the competent regional court, which for these towns should be the Sąd Okręgowy w Gdańsku (confirm with the notary), and then the Ministry adds the apostille. Notaries of the area belong to the Gdańsk Notarial Chamber (Izba Notarialna w Gdańsku). Before ordering anything, ask the destination-country lawyer which form of power of attorney and which translation the foreign notary or registry will accept.

Sworn translators (tłumacze przysięgli) are listed in the Ministry of Justice register, searchable by language. You normally need a translation into the destination language. See apostille and legalisation, certified translations and sworn translators and power of attorney for buying abroad.

Which tax office

The PIT return goes to the tax office competent for your place of residence on the day you file, not the address where you are registered. In the Tricity the competent office depends on your address, and Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia are separate towns, so check with the office finder on podatki.gov.pl. Most filings, including foreign-income attachments, can be submitted online. What to report from a property abroad and how foreign tax is credited depends on the country and on your status; our article PIT for foreigners in Poland: income from property abroad is the place to start, especially if you live in Poland on a residence card.

Consulates in Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot

Embassies are in Warsaw, about four hours by train. According to the City of Gdańsk list (state of 7 July 2026), the area has a German Consulate General among its career offices. Honorary consulates relevant to buyers include Bulgaria, Montenegro and Spain in Gdańsk, Cyprus, France and Italy in Gdynia, and Slovakia in Sopot. We could not verify their current services or hours. An honorary consulate normally helps in a limited way and does not give legal, tax or property advice; for visas and consular documents you may still be directed to the embassy in Warsaw. Contact the office first.

Russian-, Ukrainian- and Belarusian-speaking community

The Tricity lists a Ukrainian consulate and has a Russian-, Ukrainian- and Belarusian-speaking community, so Russian-speaking translators, accountants and agents are available. We give no numbers, and a recommendation from the community is a starting point, not a check. Verify the register entry or licence of whoever you hire, agree the scope and fee in writing, and send money only to the account named in the contract, never to a private person.
