According to Statistics Estonia, citing Eurostat data, the year-on-year increase in the house price index in the second quarter of 2026 was nearly two times faster in Latvia and almost two and a half times faster in Lithuania than the increase in residential property prices in Estonia. Hendrik Pungar, data scientist at Statistics Estonia, noted that dwelling prices have been growing faster in Lithuania than in Estonia for more than three years, and in Latvia for nearly two years. In Lithuania, the annual price increase has been higher than in Estonia in every quarter since the beginning of 2023. In Latvia, prices were still rising more slowly than in Estonia in the middle of 2024, but since the end of 2024 they have risen faster in every quarter. The agency also gave figures for two other Baltic Sea neighbours. In Sweden, dwelling prices in the second quarter of 2026 were up 4.8% year on year and 1.9% on the first quarter. In Finland, prices were down 2.7% year on year but up 0.3% on the previous quarter; according to Pungar, Finland has recorded an annual decline in every quarter since the end of 2022.
